MELBOURNE, FL— The Florida Coalition of School Board Members (FCSBM) is pleased to welcome its new President, Tina Descovich, and new Director, Joe Arnold.
Tina Descovich serves as a member and Chair of the Brevard County School Board, District 3. Elected in 2016, Descovich joined the FCSBM because she believes in the organization’s core values of local control, parents’ rights, accountability, and fiscal responsibility. She has since been a leading voice for FCSBM around the state of Florida. As President, she is enthusiastic about continuing to deliver FCSBM’s message of educational freedom to fellow school board members and work with other education stakeholders in implementing the association’s core values. Tina Descovich resides in Indialantic with her husband, Derek. They have two children in the public school system.
“I look forward to leading the Florida Coalition of School Board Members for this next year. We are a strong association that has worked hard to build the relationships needed to influence the future of education in our great state”, said Descovich.
Immediate Past President, Bridget Ziegler shared “The future is bright for students and families in Florida, and I could not be more excited about the direction of the FCSBM under Tina’s leadership! Furthermore, the addition of Joe Arnold ensures that the needs of smaller, rural counties have a seat at the table as well.”
Joe Arnold serves as the District 1 member of the Okeechobee County School Board. He has been a member of the FCSBM since its inception. Arnold is a strong advocate for the association’s core values and will be a tremendous asset to its continued growth as Director. Arnold and his wife reside in Okeechobee County and have three children.
The Florida Coalition of School Board Members was founded in 2014. It is an organization representing Florida school board members who believe in being fiscally responsible in education, providing parents with expanded education options for their children, a proper balance in testing accountability, and forming positive relationships with lawmakers to enhance the education of all of Florida’s youth.
